This study aimed to test the efficacy of a new formulation of locally delivered- slow-releasing 10% doxycycline (DOX) gel as a thermogelating system by histologic evaluation in rats with experimental periodontitis.Materials and methods: Periodontal disease was induced with a ligature in maxillary left and right upper first molars of twenty male Sprague-Dawley rats in a seven-day duration. Left molars were treated with DOX gel while the right ones received vehicle drug in the subgingival area. Animals were randomly divided into two groups (each group contained ten rats). One group received the drug only once, while the second one was treated with twice the drug's application. After seven days, animals were killed and prepared for histologic evaluation.Results: Application of DOX gel reduced the degree of inflammation, presence of osteoclasts and resorptive lacuna, and the amount of disorientated collagen fibres after one week compared to teeth treated with vehicle drug (p <0.05) after twice application of the drug no adverse effect and necrotic changes were detected in histologic evaluations.Conclusion: This novel formulation of DOX gel is an effective and safe drug for treating periodontal disease in rats. An observational study initiated during lockdown period in April 2020 in a new medical college running in the second year and only two batches available with a total strength of 330 student's attending classes through online mode from the last five months during COVID-19 Pandemic and 295 students were voluntarily participated in the study depending on exclusion and inclusion criteria. The statistical correlation between the investigated variables on panoramic and position of MICs and the root resorption of the adjacent tooth on CBCT were examined using independent t-test, Mann-Whitney test, and Fisher's exact test.Results: In respect of the mesiodistal position of the cusp tip of the MIC, the labially localized MICs were common in sectors 1 and 2, and the palatally localized MICs were more frequent in sectors 3, 4, and 5. Concerning the vertical position of the MIC's cusp tip, the localized labial MICs were more common in sectors 1 and 3, and palatally localized MICs were more frequent in sector 2. The mean angle of MICs about the sagittal plane was significantly higher in the palatally localized MICs. There was no significant correlation between the MIC's tip, mesiodistal position, and the adjacent tooth's root resorption.Conclusion: Results showed the correlation coefficients among the upper pharyngeal airway width, and ANB and Witt's analyses were not significant. Some researchers believe this lesion is the least aggressive part of a plasma cell neoplasm spectrum that extends to multiple myeloma. The diagnosis of Solitary Plasmacytoma of Bone (SPB) is established by histopathological examination, and the histopathological presentation is identical to that of multiple myeloma. We present a case of a 55-year-old patient with the increased facial volume on the left side and a year of evolution, intraorally with exophytic and erythematous lesions and pseudomembranous plaques in the jaw on the left side, which at histopathological study resulted in plasmacytoma. The diagnosis was confirmed by immunohistochemistry.
